Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease which has a chronic inflammatory property. It is characterized by structural defects in the connective tissue, small arteries and capillaries, vascular obstruction, accumulation of collagen and diffuse fibrosis in the skin and internal organs. And it may show fatal course because of affecting simultaneously multiple organs. The aim of this study is to make morphometric measurements on panoramic images and evaluate the radiological findings of bones and teeth of patients with scleroderma. Panoramic images of the patients were taken at the same panoramic devices with fixed magnification ratio. For calibration, 0.88 mm thick orthodontic wire which was fixed outside of the mouth was used for each patient without effecting the image area. On the panoramic images, the data obtained by morphometric measurements on the mandible were statistically compared with the data of healthy individuals. Furthermore presence of lamina dura, periodontal space changes, trabecular structure, osteolytic image existence were investigated in the patient group with scleroderma.
