17. Yüzyıl Osmanlı İmparatorluğunda Aşık Ömer ve Popüler Kültür

Abstract

Main purpose of this study is to problematize usefulness of elite high and folk culture conceptualizations in the pre-modern Ottoman Empire. Instead of these, the study offers popular culture conceptualization for the future studies in the field. To exemplify mentioned offer, because of his relatively populerness , Aşık Ömer will be main focus of the study in the framework of populer culture concept. Thus, in the first chapter of the study, place of popular culture in the Ottoman World will be examined. After that, in the second chapter, to better understand social world that shape Aşık Ömer, being a şair, meddah and aşık in the Ottoman world will be our main focus. The third chapter will investigate Aşık Ömer s perception of the world. Here, after revealing certain facts about his life, the study will examine his metapyscical world by the means of adab and hayal conceptualizations. Finally, chapter four discusses place of Aşık Ömer in the popular culture.
