The purpose of this study is to develop a readiness program which is convenient for development characteristics of children at pre-school stage, interests, needs and expectations of families and children, pre-school education and primary school programs; and to determine the effects of this program on children's early literacy skills through the opinions and practices of families on early literacy. With the aim of demonstrating the efficiency of the program developed in this study, the pretest-posttest control group design was used in the study. A 23-session long education program developed by a researcher was applied to families who compose the experimental group. Seminars which lasted for 20 weeks were held for the placebo group, and the control group meanwhile, was not interfered in any way. In parent dimension, the effect of the program on families was studied by using "Families' Opinions Scale on Early Literacy Process", "Family Practices during Early Literacy Process".
