Lie is defined as "...any time you intentionally try to mislead someone" (DePaulo et al., 1996). Even though studies showed that lies can be classified based on content; there is no classification about daily lies told in romantic relationhips in the literature. Love types represent attitudes regarding love (McGuirk and Pettijohn, 2008) and affect expectations from partners and relationships. Thus, it was predicted that love types will predict frequency and aceceptability of lying on different contents when lie is told by oneself and by partner. Hence, in the first study, data regarding lies told to romantic partners are collected for 15 days with online dairy method. Then, lies are classified using thematic analysis (Braun and Clarke, 2006) by independent judges. Results showed that, lies told in romantic relationships can be classified with 7 content classes which are activity/place, plan/surprise, opinions, emotions, possessions and achievements, explanations and issues that can cause jeaolusy. In the second study, a scale that aims to measure frequency and acceptability of lying when lie is told by oneself and by partner is developed; and named as Lie Acceptability Depending on Content Scale (LADCS). The developed scale is checked for reliability and validity using explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis, criterion-related validity, test-retest reliability and internal consistency coefficients. Analyses showed that, LADCS is a reliable and valid measurement tool. In the last study, using LADCS and Love Attitudes Scale-Short Form (Büyükşahin and Hovardaoğlu, 2004), it was examined if love types predict frequency and acceptability of lying based on lie content for women and men using multivariate multiple regression. Results showed that, there are both similar and diferent results for women and men; and some love types being significant predictors of some lie classes regarding models about lying frequency, acceptability of lying told by oneself and told by partner.
