Abstract
In this descriptive study, The Road Traffic Accident Reports of Fire Department of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality were evaluated. The universe of the research consisted of all the reports of traffic accidents which the Ankara Fire Department intervened between 01.01.2017-31.12.2017. In accordance with the purpose of the research, the reports for traffic accidents were rearranged. A review was carried out at the Fire Research and Statistics Unit in order to examine the reports. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 25 program was used for data entry and analysis. The number and percentage distributions of the recorded variables, mean, median, standard deviation and minimum/maximum values were calculated for the continuous variables. Chi-Square test was used to compare differences between groups. In the research, 1452 accident reports were examined. Yenimahalle was the district with the highest number of accident reports (n=192, 13.2%) and where the accidents occurred (n=202, 14.0%). During the year, accidents were most common in the summer months (n = 397, 27.7%), on Saturdays (n = 255, 17.8%) and between 18.00-23.59 pm (n=416, 29.0%). 63.2% (n=905) of the accidents involved only the injured, 31.3% (n=449) involved only material damage, 4.2% (n=61) involved both injuries and fatalities, 1.3% of (n= 9) involved only fatalities. 23.6% (n = 733) of the people involved in the accident were not physically affected as far as health was concerned, 72.1% (n = 2243) were injured and 4.3% (n = 134) were found dead. Of those affected by the accident, 59.7% (n=1856) were male, 20.4% (n=633) were female, 17.8% (n=555) were unnamed and 2.1% were those who cannot be determined by name. It was determined that 47.4% of the vehicles involved in the accident were single-vehicle, 75.9% of the people driving the vehicle were the owner of the vehicle and 93.6% of the accident vehicles were private vehicles. As a result of the analysis, there was no statistically significant difference
