The aim of the current study was to investigate the mediating role of self-criticism and emotion dysregulation on the relationship of childhood trauma with depressive symptoms and non-suicidal self-injury in university students. The sample of this study consisted of 532 university students between the ages of 18 and 30. Demographic Information Form, Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, Beck Depression Inventory, Inventory of Statements about Self-injury, The Levels of Self-Criticism Scale and Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale were administered to the participants. In order to examine the mediation models in the study, Parallel Multiple Mediator Analysis was carried out. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the mediating role of self-criticism and emotion dysregulation on the relationship between childhood trauma and depressive symptoms was significant. Also, the mediating role of emotion dysregulation was stronger than the mediating role of self-criticism in this relation. In addition, it was revealed that the mediating role of self-criticism and emotion dysregulation on the relationship of childhood trauma with non-suicidal self-injury was significant. In this relationship, there was no significant difference between the mediating roles of self-criticism and emotion dysregulation. The findings of the current study were discussed in the scope of the literature. Lastly, clinical implications, limitations of the study and the suggestions for further studies were explained.
