Because of the contradiction of the power structures with the free nature of art, the artists tended to build an attitude of protesting. This attitude started to appear in the 20th century due to the goals of artists to make the art 'free' and to unite it with the society rather than individualist stance. The artists that refuse the prejudices of their pioneers, have produced works which brokes the unresponsiveness of the modern world after obtaining some freedom in their fields. In this article, it's aimed to track down this protest attitude in the contemporary practices of artists of the 21th century in the context of world-wide social problems. Mentioned world-wide problems are immigration, war, consumer culture and environmental destruction. These artists that are willing to adjust the misconceptions reasoned by the ideas and the actions of the sovereign class in the actual world, have transformed into "the activists ". At the third part of the thesis, the works of protest artist's which have been producing in terms of art, politics and society also which have distant from didactic style of contemporary artists have been examined to reveal the problems mentioned above. On the other hand, design has an indisputable huge power in the public sphere. Well, is it possible to build protest designs that are sensitive about the social problems and will improve communication with the society in the field which has been serving according to consumer culture handled by the political power. At the end of the thesis, led by this question, applications have been done by the data obtained from historical background.
