Abstract
Pontic Greek which belongs to the Indo-European language family, for a long time, is spoken in various regions of Turkey. One of these regions is the Eastern Black Sea Region. The variant which is called Trabzon Greek, Pontic Greek and Romeika continues to exist in Çaykara, Of, Sürmene and Tonya districts of Trabzon today. Turkish which is the prestigious language in the region has also been spoken in the region for a long time. Therefore, the long-term contact of the communities which speak two different languages side by side has become observable in the linguistic dimension. This study aims to describe the level of language contact between Trabzon Greek and Trabzon dialects. The Code Copy Model of Lars Johanson was used to do the description. In order to better understand Johanson's Code Copying Model, in the first part of the study, the basic concepts of language contact theories are discussed and then Johanson's Code Copy model is introduced in detail. In the second part of the study, the features that distinguish Trabzon dialects from other Anatolian dialects are dwelt on. In the third chapter, the main features of Trabzon Greek and the features that distinguish it from other Greek variants are discussed. In the study, in order to examine the language contact between the two languages, dialects are compiled in various villages of Trabzon's Çaykara, Of, Sürmene and Tonya districts. Transcripts of the compilations are take part of at the end of the study. In addition, Brendemoen's compilations published in 2002 were also examined within the framework of language contact. The detailed analysis of the global and selective copies which is determined in phonetic, morphologic , syntactic and word levels in Trabzon dialects constitutes the last part of the study.
