Human wants to exist due to his nature and this existence reveals itself with the concept of self. The desire to exist begins with the human being's getting to know himself from birth and interacting with the outside world. Following William James, who added the concept of self to the science of psychology, Lacan and Cooley associate the self with the "mirror phase", "mirror self" theory, explaining that the individual first notices himself in infancy. Carl Gustav Jung explains the self in his archetypal theory, which he added to his collective unconscious concept. The aim of this research is to examine the concept of self in different theories and disciplines and in relation to the field of visual arts. The approaches of various artists from the field of visual arts are evaluated through their productions. In personal art practice, identity and self conflict find expression in relation to amorphous abstract ceramic forms with various materials such as glass and mirrors.
