The aim of this study is to examine to what degree Turkish bilingual children in France (6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grades) perceive Turkish proverbs and to detect their potential difficulties to understand them. In this study, collected data is evaluated according to different parameters such as academic success, Turkish book reading frequency and language use in family. Besides, a Proverb Teaching Survey has been applied to teachers of Turkish Language and Culture in France providing an analysis of proverb teaching in Turkish Language and Culture classes both in a general point of view and for the school year of 2020-2021. Survey model is used in this study to analyze scales and questionnaires applied to teachers. The descriptive method is used to discuss the results. Through the results, suggestions are made on the use of proverbs in cultural transmission and development of Turkish language skills of Turkish bilingual middle school children living in France.
