BEHİCE BORAN'IN YAZILARINDA VE SÖYLEMLER'İNDE KADIN SÖYLEMİ

Abstract

This study focuses on the female identity and women's discourses of Behice Boran, who has been brought to the forefront with her socialist and sociologist identity by academic and political circles in Turkey. The aim of the study is to reveal these discourses and to make an inference about Boran's female identity within the socialist masculine structure in Turkey. In order to reach these conclusions, the focus is on Boran's biography, writings and discourses. The method of study is considered as a qualitative content analysis. The analysis of writings and discourses is carried out using a thematic analysis method. From different articles and texts, Boran is divided into themes ranging from the position of women in the family, the division of labor, gender roles, women's organization, discourses of feminism and the position of women in Turkey. The secondary focus of the study is that Boran's women's discourses intersect with the discourses of feminism at certain points with the discourses of socialist leaders and thinkers at certain points. The study and conclusion of these themes shows that Boran's discourses are worth investigating not only for political science and sociology, but also for the field of women's and gender studies. In this sense, it is necessary to say that the study offers a new contribution to the literature. Ultimately, the study reveals the unexplored female identity and women's themes of Boran, a socialist leader and a socialist woman.
