Abstract
It is very important to reveal the relationship between gender roles and women's sexual satisfaction and to talk more about women's sexuality in terms of increasing women's sexual satisfaction. Studies on women's sexual satisfaction and gender roles in Turkey are quite limited. The subject of this study is the systematic review of studies on women's sexuality and women's sexual satisfaction in Turkey from the perspective of gender equality. In this study, in which the systematic review methodology was used, the studies that were available in full text through YÖK Thesis Center and Google Academic databases between 2000-2021 were included. The aim of the study is to systematically review the studies on the effect of gender roles on women's sexual satisfaction in Turkey, to identify the deficiencies in research, to draw attention to the consequences of gender roles on female sexuality and female sexual satisfaction, and to present research recommendations for future studies. Literature review; It was carried out with various combinations of the keywords “gender, gender roles, woman, sexual pleasure, orgasm, sexual satisfaction, sexual myth”. The studies (n=109) obtained as a result of the database scanning were primarily examined according to their titles and abstracts. After the title and abstract review, the remaining number of studies was 18, followed by a full-text review. After the full-text review and the exclusion of duplicate studies, 3 studies were included in the systematic review. The data extraction tool (code ruler) used in the research was created by the researchers. With this systematic review research; there is evidence about the relationship between women's sexual satisfaction and gender roles; however, it was concluded that more research is needed to address the current findings in depth. In this context, it is suggested that women's experiences will be revealed in all their diversity and more studies should be conducted with a feminist perspective. Additionally, in this study; It was underlined the importance of eliminating every practice that deprives women of their equal rights in the field of sexuality, and the increase in scientific academic research that reveals women and their experiences of being a woman.
