This thesis investigates efficient transmission techniques, the development of receivers with low computational complexity, and their analyses for q-ary Galois Field network coded wireless cooperative relay networks. Hard and soft decision maximum likelihood detection is performed at the receiver and soft and hard information relaying techniques are considered at the relay node. In soft-information relaying, analog data is transmitted from the relay node to the destination, whereas in hard-information relaying, digitized data is sent. The error performances of the new receivers are compared to that of the optimal receiver. Error rates of the optimum hard and soft decision receivers are obtained for relay networks with errorless and error-prone source-relay links, where an approximation technique, known as the equivalent relay channel method, is used.
