An accurate and novel analysis of coaxial fed thick tubular monopole antenna is presented. Pocklington s integrodifferential equation is solved with the method of moments, in order to acquire axial and circumferential change of the surface current density. Approximations neglecting circumferential variations of the current density are avoided, and meaningful results for the thick conducting wire antennas are obtained. Since the representations of the exact kernel in terms of elliptic integrals are inapplicable in this case, a novel exact kernel representation is introduced in order to deal with singularities. Comparisons of impedances between computed and previously published results are provided. Circumferential change of the surface current density is demonstrated for non-symmetrical excitations.
