In communications, some properties of the transmitted signal has to be known in receiver side so that the information in the transmitted signal could be extracted. But in some cases, there is no prior information about the incoming signal. In order to estimate the modulation type of the incoming signal spectrum, Signal-to-Noise ratio, bandwidth, carrier frequency and symbol length of the message signal has to be estimated. In this thesis, our aim is to efficiently estimate the signal parameters related to the modulation recognation of the message signal. Spectral estimate, Signal-to-Noise ratio, bandwidth, carrier frequency and symbol length estimation are simulated in Matlab enviroment to find out estimation performance and limits of the algorithims. During the study, methods that are real time or close to real time are studied in a high detail.
