The aim of the research the effect of applied Laughter therapy on the quality of life nursing home residents was design a quasi-experimental control group, pretest-posttest. 32 nursing home residents who participated in Akyurt Nursing home choose the experimental group and 33 nursing home residents who participated in Polatlı Nursing home control group in the research. Data for the research was collected by questionnaire form developed to determine the socio-demographic characteristics of the nursing home residents and the quality of life was evaluated by using The 36-item short-form health survey (SF-36). Before Laughter therapy, questionnaire form and SF-36 quality of life scale were applied experimental and control group. The next step, in the experimental group, Laughter therapy was applied 2 days per week and totally 21 sessions between the dates 02 March - May 25 2015. In both groups, the SF-36 quality of life scale was applied again after implementation. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 22.0 program was done in evaluation of the data. For descriptive statistics, mean ± deviation, number and percentage display and minimum-maximum value between Mann-Whitney U, one-way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis test and (paired-t test)t test were used. In the research was determined after the Laughter therapy implementations, nursing home residents who in experimental group SF-36 quality of life scale all sub-scales and general score points are increased to pre-test results. And these differences were statistically significant. According to this results is recommended, laughter therapy should carry out the different socio-cultural structure in nursing homes with larger sample groups and randomized control group research.
