Hybrid abutments not only allow using two-piece customized abutments but also fabricating monoblock all-ceramic restorations directly cemented on titanium bases extraorally. However, optimal bonding procedure and bonding strength of different all-ceramics to Grade V titanium (Ti6Al4V) is unknown. The purpose of this in-vitro study was to evaluate the effect of tribochemical coating and different resin cements on shear bond strength between Grade V titanium and three all ceramic material cemented. A total of 120 Ti6Al4V specimens were milled (12x12x15 mm) using Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine from titanium bar. Specimens were divided into 12 subgroups (n=10). Cementation surfaces of the 60 titanium specimens were tribochemically coated using Cojet sand. Both titanium and all-ceramic specimens’ cementation surfaces were treated with a universal primer (Monobond Plus). Three (IPS e.maxCAD, VITA Suprinity and VITA Enamic) all-ceramic discs (5 mm diameter) were cemented to titanium using two different resin cements; Panavia 21 and Multilink Hybrid Abutment. After cementation, all specimens were subjected to 5000 cycles of thermal aging (5–55°C). Shear bond strength test was conducted using a universal testing machine with a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. Scanning electron microscope was used to determine the mode of failure and the effect of tribochemical coating on the titanium. Data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA and the differences among subgroups were evaluated with Post Hoc Duncan tests with a significance level of 0,05. The mean shear bond strength values ranged from 15,07±2,00 MPa to 29,11±6,23 MPa among groups. Statistically signiﬁcant higher shear bond strength values were acquired when the titanium surface is tribochemically coated independent from all-ceramic and resin cement. IPS e.maxCAD showed the highest shear bond strength values while VITA Enamic showed the lowest independent from tribochemical coating and resin cement. Multilink Hybrid Abutment showed higher shear bond strength values than Panavia 21 independent from tribochemical coating and all-ceramic material.
