Low back pain is a common health problem which affects adults at least once in lifetime, is second most prevalent reason people go to doctor, impairs quality of life and is associated with loss of work productivity. For treatment of chronic low back pain, there are non-operative invasive options available. Epiduroscopy is a minimally invasive technique that can be used in diagnosis and treatment of low back pain. Also it is a routine procedure for chronic lower back pain at Hacettepe University Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation Algology Unit. Comparison of quality of life before and after posterior epiduroscopy procedure is the primary goal of our study. For this purpose, 59 patients included in study and their before and six-months-after the treatment SF-36 (Short Form-36) Questionnaire scores evaluated. The patients group was mostly made up of women (76.3%) and the mean age was 56.8. Overall, after-epiduroscopy-SF-36 scores are statistically higher in all subvariables of the questionnaire. These subvariables are general health perception, physical functioning, physicial role limitation, energy/vitality, mental health, emotional role limitation, pain and social functioning. The physical role limitation had the biggest increment as a parameter. In conclusion, epiduroscopy not only is an effective treatment for chronic lower back pain, but also improves the quality of life in patients.
