In this study, the design and application of a DC-DC converter including a 20 kW, 20 kHz high-frequency transformer with a silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFET H-bridge on the photovoltaic panel side and silicon carbide (SiC) Schottky diodes on the side of the boosted output are made. The full load efficiency of the converter which uses phase shifted pulse width modulation method as a switching technique, is obtained as 98% by using intentive transformer design and new generation power switches. Electrical isolation property of this converter which is intented to be used as a maximum power point tracker in photovoltaic power systems, prevents the system from common mode currents caused by power switches. A prototype production was made and tested successfully in the laboratory to see the designed and simulated DC-DC converter performance.
