Erken Okuryazarlık Becerileri Eğitim Programının Erken Okuryazarlık ve Erken Matematik Becerileri Üzerine Etkisinin İncelenmesi

This study aimed to investigate the effects of early literacy skill educational program on early literacy and early mathematics skills of preschool children. The study group consisted of students attending the nursery class at Aydınlıkevler Elementary School, connected to the Ministry of National Education, in Karabük Province center during 2017-2018 academic year. One of the classes was assigned to the test group and the other was assigned to the control group randomly. A total of 38 children was included in the study group, out of which the test group consisted of 19 children and the control group consisted of 19 children. Quasi experimental design with preliminary test-final test control group was used in the study. Early literacy skill educational program prepared by the researcher was applied to the children in the test group for 12 weeks, twice a week. The children in the control group continued their regular education taught by their class teachers following the application of the preliminary test. The final tests were applied following the application. The early literacy skill assessment tool, developed by Karaman, and the Test of Early Mathematics Ability (TEMA-3), developed by Ginsburg and Broody and adapted to Turkish children by Erdoğan, were used to determine the effect of the applied education on the early literacy skills of the children for collection of the study data. İt was concluded that the “early literacy skill education program” applied by the researcher to the test group was effective on the early literacy and early mathematics skills of the children. As a result of the study, it was designated that there was a relation between the phonetic awareness ability and writing awareness ability and the early mathematics skills.
