After noise exposure reactive oxygen radicals reduce blood flow in cochlea and induce hearing loss. İn this study our aim is research curative effect of EGb 761 extract that is used in clinically and preventive effect has already shown on NIHL which was produced by 1 hour noise exposure (1). 32 Sprague Dawley female rats which seperated 4 groups had been included in our study. At the begining of the study electrophysiological measurements had been measured from all of rats. During 8 hours at 100 dB SPL wide band noise was exposed to Group 1 after basal measurements without EGb 761 implementation. After basal measurements, from 1 st day to 21 st day, during 21 days EGb 761 extract had given to Group 2 which didnt exposed to noise. After basal measurements Group 3 was exposed to wide band noise during 8 hours at 100 dB SPL. İn this day after measurements EGb 761 extract was started to given to the group which continued during 21 days. Group 4 had never exposed to noise and / or EGb 761 extract. After finished 21 days audiologic part of our study which includes audiologic measurements biochemical parameters were studied. Our results showed that; EGb 761 has therapeutic effect on NIHL. Noise exposure causes DNA damage. Noise causes values of TOS get higher. Higher TOS values are getting lower by using of EGb 761.
