Reading; It is an action that takes people to infinity of knowledge and develops skills such as creative thinking, speaking and writing. Free and scientific thinking power, which is one of the goals of national education, has a wide world view; The aim of raising constructive, creative and productive individuals will be to give children the habit of reading from a young age. Reading campaigns in many provinces today, the Ministry of National Education by creating a list of basic works aimed at gaining students the habit of reading, reading skills in the field of Turkish Education Program is of great importance, the importance of reading the importance given to the reading of the country and the reading of studies such as the preparation of books show the desire to increase. Parents and teachers have great responsibilities in gaining reading habits. In this research, it is aimed to gain the habit of reading to first year students. In this context, the data were collected from 40 elementary school teachers working in a primary school in Batman in 2017-2018 academic year and 36 first year students and their parents. In this study, which is an action research, the data was collected by reading tendency questionnaire, metaphor of book concept, reasons for not reading book and open-ended questionnaire about solution suggestions to gain reading habit. In the light of the data collected from the teachers, students and parents, an action plan has been prepared in order to give the students the habit of reading. The success of the action plan demonstrated the importance of teachers' classroom activities and the involvement of teachers and parents in the process of acquiring reading habits.
