The importance of public transport became extremely important with increasing population density in big cities. The need for such vehicles has increased in the last decade, as trams are environmentally friendly and have a higher passenger capacity. To meet these demands, tram manufacturers are considering design of a 100% low-floor tramway suitable for disabled people and baby carriages. In line with this purpose, within the scope of this thesis optimization and finite element analyzes of chassis and structure of the indigenously designed tramway conducted. This vehicle will replace the trams were imported in the current situation in Turkey. In this study analyses conducted on 5 modules %100 low-floor tramway that has limited production model and commercial products through domestic sources in Turkey. First, static analysis was conducted on the tramway structure to identify critical areas and improvements were made according to the results. Then, the Hot Spot Stress method was used to estimate fatigue life of the whole model according to VDV 152 regulations. After the static and fatigue analyzes of the chassis and body conducted, the collision analyzes of the vehicle were carried out according to EN 15227 standard. The resulting design has more passenger capacity than comparable models and compatible with national and international standards. As a result of the thesis, analysis know-how in the field of light railway systems has been acquired and localized.
