The aim of this study is to find out the characteristics of reading and public library use habits of selected primary school teachers in Ankara. Data were gathered through questionnaire that were filled out by 127 teachers in 16 primary schools in 6 central districts in Ankara. The reading and public library use of the teachers were evaluated in terms of elements such as age, sex, experience in teaching, primary school curriculum and professional courses. In addition, it was investigated whether they had been educated about these habits in their undergraduate education. The conclusion reached was that the teachers did not have sufficient reading and public library use habits because of the present education system.
