Iğdır Melekli Kasabası' nda Yaşayan Evli Kadınların Gebe Kalmaya Yönelik Bildikleri Geleneksel Yöntemler

Abstract
This study has been conducted with the purpose of determining traditional methods known by women living in Melekli Town of Iğdır. The population of study was women who lives in Melekli Town. Statistical sample was composed of 214 individual attendees. Data were collected using a face to face interwiev method through questionnaire form. Evaluation of the data ; frequency and percentages were used for categorical data, mean ± standard deviation (X ± SD) were used for quantitative data. Fisher, pearson, likelihood chi-square tests were used for categorical comparisons. Eighty five percent of women had known about traditional methods to conceive for women and 26.1% of them had known traditional methods to conceive for men. nine point three percent of women used traditional methods to conceive. The types of traditional methods for women which is known by women to become pregnant were sitting over steam (75.2%), directly applied mixture into vagina (46.1%) applied mixture putting on the pad (16.4%), applied drinking mixture of variety plant (25.2%), heat application to the pelvic region (27.4%), cover pelvic region with variety of materials (9.3%). The women expressed that they used sitting over steam (7.5%), directly applied mixture into vagina (4.2% )applied mixture putting on the pad (1.4%), applied drinking mixture of variety plant (4.2%) to conceive. The age of the women, occupation, marriage year, education, social security, economic condition, time of conception, status of having child, do not affect knowing traditional methods ((p>0,05). The time of pregnancy experienced by women, has a positive effect on the status of using the traditional method (p <0.05). According to the results obtained from the study the recommendations have beeen developed about traditional methods known and used to conceive by women.
