Hastalarının Hemşirenin Varlığını Değerlendirmelerinin Hümanistik Hemşirelik Kuramı Bağlamında Incelenmesi
Abstract
Study was conducted as a descriptive study to investigate the evaluation of nursing presence by patients with cancer in the context of humanistic nursing theory. This study was conducted between the dates April 1st - November 30th, 2013. Sample of the study consisted the patients with cancer hospitalized in Dr. Abdurrahman Yurtaslan Ankara Oncology Training and Research Hospital and Hacettepe University Oncology Hospital. The study was conducted in three phases. The first phase of the study was the validation and reliability study of “Presence of Nursing Scale”, which was used to assess the evaluation of patients with cancer on nursing services, and was carried out with 300 patients with cancer. In the second phase of study the first use of the valid and reliable “Presence of Nursing Scale” was done with 110 patients with cancer. The third phase of the study was carried out with indepth interviews which one done with 16 patients with cancer to determine their evaluations about the presence of nursing. Data were collected with patient data sheet, Presence of Nursing Scale and semi-structured interview form. In the first and second phase data were analyzed with percentage, mean, Kendal W, Pearson analysis, t test, Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, and multiple regression tests; and in the third phase data were analyzed with content analysis method. According to the study results, Presence of Nursing Scale which was adapted into Turkish was found as a valid and reliable scale for the evaluation of nursing presence by patients. The score of perception of nursing presence of patients was above the average (88.46 ±22.66). In the study it was found that the increase in the age and years with the diagnose decreases the perception of nursing presence and increase in satisfaction about current care increases the perception of nursing presence. According to the concept of presence in humanistic nursing theory, patients' perception on presence of nurse is developed to the extent of their interpersonal relationship during nursing services. At the end of the study, education of nurses about self awareness and reflection of presence to nursing care was recommended.
