It is undoubtedly the ecological system and nature that are most adversely affected by the progress of technology and the consequences of industrialization. The development of technology and industrialization have confronted nature with a human model that is self-centered and does not care about life forms outside of itself. The main reason for the ecological crisis is the inadequacy of people's knowledge about consumption, their wastefulness and the loss of their ability to communicate with nature.
This research was designed as a social responsibility project to raise awareness about the problems in the field of ecology. Within the scope of the project, four workshops and two exhibitions were held in four different national and international educational institutions in Bulgaria.
Within the scope of the thesis, ecological system, new and alternative environmentally friendly methods and materials, sustainable design and the place of graphic design in sustainability are investigated. The scope of application consists of an innovative approach called BIOPOSTER. This is done by spreading plant seeds onto hand crafted sheets made by recycled waste paper. By using pre-cut templates, plant seeds are used to create visuals and the right conditions are created for the seeds to germinate. As the seeds grow, the artistic message of the poster becomes visible in time. In accordance with the results obtained, six different BIOPOSTER designs have been produced and exhibited.
BIOPOSTER design carries an interactive feature that requires the participation of the audience by inviting them to touch the posters and allowing them to receive the conveyed message using both senses, visual and touch. By doing so, a tactile environment is created which communicates nature through graphic design. The interaction between the poster and the audience is observed.
