This study was planned to examine the validity and reliability of the Life Balance Inventory in individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia. The study involved 52 individuals with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, age from 26 to 64. Psychopathology assessments of individuals were completed using the Clinical Global Impression Scale (CGI) and the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). Factor analysis was performed within the framework of structure validity to examine the validity of the inventory. When looking at correlation the LBI with the sub-scales, Health sub-scale with moderate (r=0,563; p< 0,05), Relationships (r=0,727; p< 0,05) and the Identity (r=0,795; p< 0,05) sub-scales with high intensity and Challenge/Interest sub-scale (r=0,804; p<0,05) has a very high degree of. Correlations of LBI with psychopathology assessments were examined and a negative directional weak (r=0,405; p< 0,05) correlation with KGI was observed. Negative directional weak correlation with PANSS total score (r=0,385; p=0,05) correlation was observed, while a moderate correlation (r=0,456; p< 0,05) was found in a negative direction with the PANSS negative symptoms sub parameter. Test-retest method and internal consistency analysis method were used for the reliability study of LBI. The Cronbach alpha coefficient for the scale was calculated for each subscale. Internal consistency coefficients of the subscales were calculated as α=0,706 for Health, α=0,695 for Relationships, α=0,723 for Identity, α=0,656 for Challenge/Interest and Cronbach alpha coefficient α =0,842 for inventory, respectively. According to these findings, the internal consistency of the scale is quite reliable. A second evaluation was performed after 8-10 days for the individuals who participated in the study in the retest application. The correlation coefficient between the data obtained from the first application and the second application was found to be 0,89. These findings show that the internal consistency of LBI and its invariance with time are high. As a result, LBI was found to be a valid and reliable tool for evaluating individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia.
