Abstract
The aim of this study was examined the Turkish version of the Revised Nottingham Sensory Assessment (rNSA) and its validity and reliability in individuals with stroke. The study included 85 stroke. WHO's translation protocol was applied while adapting the scale to Turkish. In order to evaluate the application, practicality and comprehensibility of the scale, a pre-test was applied and the scale was given its final form. The validity of the rNSA was examined by the construct and criterion validity method, and its reliability was examined by the internal consistency, test-retest, and inter-rater method. According to the criterion validity, it was found significant relationships between the Katz ADL Index and light touch (r=0,430), temperature (r=0.504), pinprick (r=0.469), tactile localization (r=0.474), bilateral simultaneous touch (r=0.431) and pressure (r=0.464) sub-dimensions of, and proprioception (r=0.674) and steregnosis (r=0.580) dimensions of rNSA (p0.001). It was found significant relationships between RMA and light touch (r=0.567), temperature (r=0.576), pinprick (r=0.550), tactile localization (r=0,576), bilateral simultaneous touch (r=0.528) and pressure (r=0.589) sub-dimensions, and proprioception (r=0.732) and stereognosis (r=0.773) dimensions of rNSA (p0.001). According to construct validity analysis of rNSA, group comparisons were made according to demographic information, and it was determined that the results of rNSA did not change according to demographic informations. Internal consistency was found to be high in all dimensions of rNSA within the scope of reliability analysis (Cronbach’s α=0.788- 0.959). As a result of the test-retest analysis of rNSA, excellent consistency was found between the results at different times in all dimensions (0.953-1.000). According to the results of the inter-rater analysis of rNSA, it was determined that the evaluation results among different rater in all sub-dimensions showed excellent consistency (Kappa= 0.9-1.0). As a result, it was found that the Turkish version of the rNSA is a valid and reliable scale that can evaluate somatosensory in individuals with stroke.
