In this report titled "Trauma and the Body in Art", it has been investigated how the concept of trauma has been explained in different ways in various branches of art from past to present, and how mental states such as stuckness, fragility, loneliness are handled in the field of plastic arts through the concept of body. In this study, personal research on the effects of trauma resulting from violence in the context of art, how we sustain life with these effects and how they make us feel are presented. The origin and starting point of trauma has been enriched with the concepts of capitalism, violence and expressionism, and in this direction, it has been matured with different forms through the body in the field of art. In the first part of the research, the phenomenon of violence that causes trauma, what kind of forms it appears in and its effects on the individual are explained. Subsequently, these effects were presented with examples through the concept of expressionism and the works of different artists. In the second part of the research, the phenomenon of capitalism and post-modernist art were analyzed. How depressions and mental troubles detach the individual from the modern world is explained in line with sample discourses from postmodern philosophers. In the third part, the concept of trauma and the reflections of the relationship between the body and plastic arts are explained with sample works by artists. Finally, in the fourth part, as a result of the study that emerged within all these concepts and facts, the reflections and forms of the concept of trauma on the body in the field of sculpture and its relationship with the material used in the works are shown.
