Abstract
What makes a story unique is; it is the way he narrates it and the visual animation of the universe he presents to the player. Therefore, the role of space in storytelling is important. The unique universes created by video games bring many alternatives along with the possibilities of developing technology. The different characteristics of each item in the game increase the player's curiosity to explore the map and become one of their motivations to continue the game. The artificial reality of games has a unique structure in both plot and visual design. The surrealism of the stories told; It enables people to empathize through cultural transfers, life experiences and emotional states. Actors can bond with the actor character and make decisions for the character, rather than taking part as a spectator, unlike in movies. If this is the case; It allows players to empathize and test how they would react if they were in the same situation from a safe area. As a means of entertainment, the approach of video games to the theme of horror differs in the way they use the elements of tension and violence. As one of the design elements in horror games, which are usually combined with the action and survival genre; Authenticity in atmosphere and space designs are as important as gameplay mechanics. Along with the game experience, his approach to human psychology and his use of cultural elements form the basis of a successful horror game. The psychological equivalent of fear as an emotion, its cultural reflections and its place in popular culture are examined in depth and its effect on horror games constitute the main areas of study of the thesis. As the main purpose of the research and application study of this proficiency in art thesis; It is aimed to contribute to the diversity of resources for horror games in the academic field and to provide information about the theoretical and concept design of the application work to the related fields. It is aimed to create a resource for art students who want to produce works for the entertainment industry with the aim of following the production methods of game design for the production process of the application. Theoretical research on the psychological-based elements of fear in the design process will be implemented with a concept design study.
