Abstract

COLORED LINING RESEARCH AND ORIGINAL APPLICATIONS IN SODA FIRING

This study report titled “Coloured Lining Research and Original Applications in Soda Firing” consists of 3 main sections.

In the first chapter titled; "Soda Firing and Lining" By making the definition of soda firing, its historical development and furnaces are mentioned. Information was given about linings and the use of lining in soda firing, and examples from artists working with soda firing were given.

In the second part, titled; "Experimental Applications" for colouring linings; Researches has been done on the bodies and linings used in soda firing. As a result of the research, new colour results were obtained by adding colorants to the primer recipes obtained from the literature and these recipes. Detailed information was given about the results and prescriptions.

In the third and last section titled; “Original Applications” In line with the research, examinations and observations made in the previous sections, original ceramic forms suitable for soda firing were produced. Soda firing was carried out by applying the lining recipes, which were successful as a result of the trials, on the ceramic forms made.

In the conclusion part of the thesis, the data obtained as a result of the trials and applications were evaluated, and the results were examined.
