Zülfü Livaneli Ve Uwe Tımm’in Romanlarında Erk Sorunsalının Tarihsel Anlatımı
Abstract
In line with the problem of power, the present thesis aims to draw a comparison between the historical novels of Zülfü Livaneli’s Leyla’nın Evi and Serenad and Uwe Timm’s Morenga and Yarı Gölge. The study consists of three chapters. The first two chapters is formed to discuss the argumentative dimension of the thesis. In the first chapter, information on the concepts of power and rulership will be given and the misuse of this power will be emphasized. The phenomenon of power will be emphasized politically, sociologically, literally, linguistically and historically. The understanding of the phenomenons in question by Niccolo Machiavelli and Hannah Arendt will also be covered within the study.
The second chapter of the study will provide information on the genre of historical novel, the relationship between history and literature, and the characteristics of the historical novel genre. The genre will be analyzed within its phase in Turkish and German literature and in order to understand the ideas of scholars to what extent historicity along with literary fiction should be used in historical novels will be touched upon.
In the operational stage of the third chapter; information on the personal and artistic lives of Zülfü Livaneli and Uwe Timm will be given; the subject and the themes of the novels under study will be made clear; the aforementioned novelists’ works will be compared in line with the problem of power through the subject and themes; an outcome assessment will be made and the study will be finalized.
Throughout the study, pluralistic method as a method of comparative literature and as a sub-method of comparative literature studies will be used. In this context, throughout the comparison process the methods used, which apply well to the study, are as follows; mainly text-based analysis, historical analysis, sociology of literature analysis and positivist analysis.
