This study aims to examine teachers’ views on the relationship among organizational ostracism, work alienation and organizational cynicism. The study is carried out with the participation of 465 teachers in public secondary schools in the districts of Ankara city during the academic year of 2017-2018. “Organizational Ostracism Scale”, “Work Alienation Scale” and “Organizational Cynicism Scale”
have been used as data collection tools. The arithmetic mean, standard deviation, percentage value, t test, ANOVA, LSD test of post hoc tests, Pearson Correlation coefficient and multivariate regression analysis were used for the analysis of the data obtained in the research. The results indicated that teachers’ views on the both dimensions of organizational ostracism were in a “strongly disagree” level. It was seen that teachers’ views on organization ostracism differed according to marital status. Teachers’ views on the “Powerlessness” dimension of work alienation was in a “rarely” level, “Meaningfulness” and “Isolation” dimensions of work alienation were in a “never” level and “School Alienation” dimension of work alienation was in a “occasionally” level. The results indicated that teachers’ views on work alienation didn’t show a significant difference based on demographic variables. Teachers’ views on the all dimensions of organizational cynicism were in a “disagree” level.
Besides that, it was seen that teachers’ views on organizational cynicism differed according to age, educational level and tenure of office at the school where they work. There was a low and moderate positive correlation between all dimension of organizational ostracism and “Powerlessness”, “Meaningfulness” and “Isolation” dimensions of work alienation; a low positive correlation between all dimension of organizational ostracism and all dimensions of organizational cynicism; a moderate
positive correlation between “Powerlessness”, “Meaningfulness” and “Isolation” dimensions of work alienation and all dimensions of organizational cynicism; a low negative correlation between “School Alienation” dimension of work alienation and “Cognitive” dimension of organizational cynicism. It has been seen that “Isolate” dimension of organizational ostracism and “Powerlessness” and “Isolation”
dimensions of work alienation were a predictor of organizational cynicism.
