In this study an intervention engine based on learning analytics for e-learning environments was designed. The intervention engine includes instructional, supportive and motivational interventions. The intervention engine is integrated into the Moodle Learning Management System as an add-on. In the system machine learning has been applied in order to be able to better understand the current situation and making predictions for the future. Thus the system has evolved into intelligent learning management system. The system is entitled Intelligent Intervention System (In2S) because of it’s both intelligent and able to intervene to the students. There are three types of intervention in the intervention engine. Instructional intervention, is structured based on the assessment tasks of the students. The students diagnosed via the SATO caution index. According to this diagnosis; signal lights, textual expressions and topic contingent gave to the students as a type of feedback. In the context of supportive intervention, the findings of the students' interactions with the system were presented via dashboards. The interactions of the students presented with five themes which are content, discussion, assessment, instructor and general. The students could see the their daily individual interaction situations ve comparison of interaction situations with groups. And also, the system could be able to predict course successes according to the interaction situations. In order to be able to make motivational intervention, leader board and badges which are elements of gamification, have been integrated in the system. The implementation of In2S was applied with 79 undergraduate students. Then focus group interviews were conducted with sixteen students. According to the findings, it was seen that the interventions which are made to the students by the system were effective. The students found the system useful and indicated that they wanted to use this system for the other courses.
